MOSCOW, Aug 12 (PRIME) -- A liquid-propellant propulsion system unit exploded at military proving grounds in the Arkhangelsk Region during a test run, killing five employees of Russian state nuclear power corporation Rosatom and injuring three more, Rosatom said in a statement on August 10.

“As a result of the incident at military proving grounds in the Arkhangelsk Region during tests of a liquid-propellant propulsion system, five Rosatom employees were killed. Three more our colleagues suffered from injuries and burns of various degrees,” the statement read.

The explosion happened during works connected with engineering and technical maintenance of isotope power sources of the propellant system, the company said.
